Soundwave
A Mac app for more accessible audio control
I love my MacBook—but when it comes to accessibility for people with speech and hearing challenges, macOS still falls short.
So last weekend, I vibe-coded a new macOS app: Soundwave.
From your menubar, Soundwave gives you easy access to powerful audio extensions designed with accessibility in mind. Just connect your headphones and you get:
- Delay Effect - Adds a short delay to your voice audio—a technique shown to help some people who stutter by creating a “chorus effect” that improves fluency.
- Voice Amplifier - Adjust your own voice volume relative to others on Zoom or Google Meet—amplify your feedback without changing everyone else’s audio.
This started as a personal project, but it also shows what’s possible when building niche, assistive tech—even for those without deep technical knowledge.
Download Soundwave and let me know what you think.
